Last week I recapped the eight finalists who pitched at the MIT 100K Accelerate Conference, including the winner Vizzhy and the second and third place teams, Multitude Insights and Mesophase. Today I’m writing about the additional twelve startups who were selected as semi finalists and participated at the tradeshow booths. Vaiven is a building a consumer loan marketplace for the Mexican market. They offer borrowers competitive rates that are simple, fast and free. For lenders, they help expand digital customer acquisition with a friendly UX and other analytics capabilities (https://vaiven.mx/)
Empallo is reducing the number of repeated hospitalizations for heart failure patients. 20% of heart failure patients get readmitted within 30 days of discharge, resulting in $12B in associated costs annually. INIA Biosciences is developing a platform technology using ultrasound stimulation to non-invasively modulate inflammation. Their wearable ultrasound device delivers therapy to a patient at home, and integrates with a digital health platform to enable real time physician monitoring and intervention. Robin is a social media platform for engineers. Their community allows engineers to connect and collaborate on projects to accelerate innovation
Footprint quantifies the environmental and social impact of an individual’s consumer spending. Their app recommends customized behavior changes to increase a user’s sustainability score, and incentivizes these changes by offering rewards like discounts and cash back
Koritsu is a building a tool to automate repetitive jobs for professionals. Their automation removes manual processes to let individuals focus on something creative
DMOS is a data management and analysis service that brings practices from software engineering and distributed computing to research. DMOS accelerates the pace of scientific discovery by making it easy for researchers to share and reuse their data
Mantel is developing the first high temperature liquid phase carbon capture material. They aim to remove CO2 from the atmosphere through bioenergy with carbon capture and storage (BECCS). They estimate that molten borates and process changes increase thermal efficiency, reducing costs by more than 40%
